It’s the $13,000 ultra-luxury limousine face off of the decade.

From across the pond, we have the 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

From the boys back home, we have the 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

One can read off a spec sheet all day, but which was the better quality automobile? Like, which was smoother, quieter, better built, best materials, etc.

Inb4 Ben J Rolland “duh the Cadillac”

And I swear, even though I’m 15, my soul is in its 50’s.

Soon to be 16 in 5 days. It seems to never come fast enough, the day that I get my license. I’ve even been thinking that I was 16 over the last few months.

I would have to say the Cadillac is all around a better car. Although I could be showing some personal American basis there

I thought it was you but wasn’t sure, so just clarifying. Have you actually been able to drive it yet? Where I'm from I think the law is that at 16 you can get your permit.

Permit at 15 - drive w/ another licensed driver

Challenger at 15.8

License at 16 - drive alone

Duh the Cadillac.

Actually, I am serious. This may be one of the few times when Cadillac went toe to toe Rolls-Royce. The other time was in the era of the V-16. I am counting the ‘57-59 Eldorado Biarritz as being “the same time” as this car. To be honest, they are quite similar, yet at the same time, quite different. Hard to say, but it’s close.

Nice. I’m sure being from Oppo you’re not like the other stereotypical high school muscle drivers. Meaning you’ll be a cut above and won’t crash into a tree or something. Best of luck!

I am actually 20 with the mind the of a 50 year old. But I still consider myself pretty young.

The Eldo with the stainless roof is one of my personal favorites, so I’d take it over the Rolls. Plus, the Cadillac OHV V8 is a bulletproof classic.

Ah okay. In some situations having the mindset of a 50 year old could definitely be a benefit. :)

Can confirm, high school drivers are the worst. Although there is a glimmer of hope! There is this girl, and she has a current generation 528i. I saw her using actual turn signals in the parking lot! It was truly eye-opening.

Duh the Cadillac.

It was bigger, it had more features, was more modern and more powerful, has a bigger motor, has a way more modern build with much better quality. One was built at an all time high for America, in the most modern facility one of the highest companies in the world at the time could make, while the Rolls Royce was a fuckin’ 10 year out of date 6 banger built in a shed in fuckin’ Crewe.

The Cadillac is probably better quality, performance, reliability... the Rolls will have nicer interior details.

No. Sure the Rolls was a nice luxury car at the time, but the Eldorado Brougham was a concept car you could buy and license.
